Metal-Free Dental Crowns Restore Smiles
Dentistry has come a long way.
We know that thousands of years ago, different cultures used anything they could find to repair damaged teeth, including metal. Gold and amalgam (a blend of mercury and other metals) can restore the function of your teeth, but a metallic tooth doesn’t exactly look natural.
Today, you don’t have to sacrifice your smile in order to eat the foods you want. You can restore the appearance and the function of your teeth with a metal-free dental crown from Advanced Dental Concepts.
If you would like to fix your tooth and bring back your beautiful smile, make an appointment at our dentist office in Roseville, CA. You can contact us with our online form, or you can call us at (916) 945-9985.
We look forward to seeing you and your smile soon.
Good Reasons To Get A Dental Crown
Dental crowns could be considered the building blocks of restorative dentistry. They are a great way to repair (and sometimes replace) teeth. For now, let’s look at some reasons you might need a dental crown:
➤ You have a cracked tooth.
➤ You have a large cavity.
➤ You have a broken tooth.
➤ You have a misshapen or undersized tooth.
➤ You have a discolored tooth.
➤ You have a tooth that has been worn down.
A dental crown can address all of these issues. We will use the cracked tooth as an example to show you how this works.
A cracked tooth can happen anytime. All you have to do is bite into something that was harder than you were expecting or something you didn’t expect to be there, such as an olive pit or unpopped kernel of popcorn.
Once a crack develops, it can spread deeper and deeper into your tooth. The sooner you fix it, the less likely you are to lose that tooth.
To save your tooth, we first need to reshape it. This will leave only the healthy portion of the tooth, which also will provide the support for your crown.
Our crowns are made of materials such as porcelain and zirconia. This means they will look like a natural tooth and have the durability and strength to bite and chew — the things you need your teeth to do.
When the crown is ready, we will bond it to your tooth. Unless you tell other people about it, they probably won’t know that one of your “teeth” is a dental crown.
The procedure for fixing cavities, broken teeth, and the other problems mentioned above is similar. We reshape your tooth so it can support a crown, then we place the crown on your tooth when it is ready.
Get Your Crown Sooner With CEREC
By coming to Advanced Dental Concepts, you can save time as well. Because we offer CEREC dental crowns, we can prepare your tooth and bond your crown in place in a single visit to our office.
We start by making a scan of your teeth. This information is sent to computer software, which helps us design a dental crown that will fit in with the rest of your smile. That design is sent to our in-office CEREC milling machine, which turns a cube of porcelain into your crown while you wait.
Offices without this technology have to order dental crowns from a lab. That may mean a patient has to wear a temporary crown (which can break or come loose) for weeks before his or her real crown is ready. That also means making another trip to the dentist to complete the process.
